With Baneblades,
Battle Companies, and Bloodthirsters roaring
around the Apocalypse battlefield, it's
easy to disregard the little guy. More
often than not, though, it is the noble infantryman
who will secure victory for a canny commander.
Games Developer Phil Kelly takes us through
a few tactics designed to help footsloggers
pluck victory from under the noses of the
big uglies of the 41st millennium. |

Apocalypse is primarily about having lots of
fun by blowing stuff up, if you want to
win a game, you will need to learn how to claim
objectives. No army will be able to seize all
the objectives on a given battlefield. You really
need to pick and choose your targets. Every
Apocalypse
army should have some infantry in its number,
and you can be pretty sure that if you use your
infantry better than your opponent uses his,
then victory is all but assured.
The first thing to bear in mind is that if
you leave your infantry out in the open, in
full view
of the enemy's guns, then they will get
pounded flat in no time at all. This may sound
obvious, but it is worth stating ahead of time.
In Apocalypse, you need to be a little more
devious
and use terrain, decoys, and stratagems to your
best advantage.
In this article, we'll be using actual
in-game photos from the "Slaughter at the Kan
Factory"
battle report to demonstrate how best to use
infantry, with some simple do's and don'ts
along the way. |
