The Golden Demon Competition is a very
important part of Games Day, but not everyone can make
it to these amazing events, so we
bring to you, The Golden Goblin! Put your best brush forward,
and show off your finest creations.
Categories
The Golden Goblin Painting Competition has three categories:
Warhammer, Warhammer 40,000 & Lord of the Rings.
Each category has two age divisions: Young Bloods (14
and under)
and Old Gitz (15 and older). Competitors may enter
ONE figure per category.
Models
Any size of model may be entered (that's right, ANY model
of ANY size can be entered!). However, this is a "Best
Single Figure" painting competition; entries with
multiple models on one base are not allowed (this also
means that the Mumakil may be entered,
but only by itself--no crew). War machines with crew
present are not allowed and tanks with crew are not allowed
either,
for the sake of fairness.
Conversions
Miniature converting is an art unto itself, and many competitions
are often run with conversions as their basis. This is
not the case with the Golden Goblin; whereas conversions
ARE
allowed in all the categories, this is still a painting
competition at heart; a masterful paint job will still
weigh heavier with the judges than will a mind-blowing
conversion (or new sculpt).
The Lord of the Rings
conversions are being permitted in the Lord of the Rings
category. However, due to our agreement with New Line Cinema,
conversions may only be done using Lord of the Rings bitz
on Lord of
the Rings models. Any use of Warhammer or Warhammer 40,000
bitz will disqualify the entry.
Basing
Models must be entered on fully painted or flocked bases
(vehicles are exempt from this). Models may be mounted
on a base larger than what they came with when purchased,
but any base used
MUST be a stock GW base. Even if mounted on a stock GW
base, diorama bases will not be permitted (in this competition,
the use of the term, diorama, refers to the recreation
of a scene on a base larger than the model's originally-issued
base). It is acceptable to add scenic details to your
figure's base, but those details cannot be the focus
of your entry
and cannot dominate your entry's base.

will be able to Judge the Staff Category of the painting
contest (all previous rules apply to the staff category).

•
Overall, the judges are looking for well-painted miniatures
that adhere to the imagery and ethos of Games Workshop’s
different fantasy universes.
•
The greatest care will be taken with every competitor’s
entries, But Games Workshop cannot accept any responsibility
for any models that are
accidentally damaged or broken.

right to display, photograph, and publish images
as they
see fit.
•
The Judges’ decision is final and we are sorry,
but no correspondence will be entered into regarding
the judging process.
