The end of the season is fast approaching and I am spending this time
trying to get in the last few points that I can. Last weekend was spent
battling it out at Tom Moskalik’s annual Veterans Challenge, this
year was the third such challenge. The veterans challenge is one of the
tournaments that I look forward to going to every year. At six games
it truly is a weekend full of gaming and Tom always has a slight variation
on the standard tournament system. One of his additions is the “sickest” army
award, this is an optional vote that players can cast for the dirtiest
most overpowered army. This year I was the proud recipient of the award,
thanks to my Errantry War list. Apparently people do not like to play
against an army of 55 Bretonnian Knights that are all strength 6 on the
charge, who knew? On a completely unrelated note, I also managed to win
Best General. Best Overall was won by Frank Delanghe and his lizardmen
army. I just wanted to say thanks to The Moskalik Brothers(Tom and Andy)
for putting on a fantastic weekend it was great fun. I have to say that
if you wish to go to a great tournament against challenging opponents
I recommend the Veterans Challenge, I will be there again next year.
(I promise it will be with a much friendlier army)
In the Hall of Heroes the Grand Tournament invitations will be sent
out the second week of March, so as a tournament goer please check the
list of tournaments to ensure all your points have been recorded and
to all tournament organizers could you please send in any of your outstanding
results. Any results received after March 10th will not be included in
the Hall of Heroes so it is important to send in all results as soon
as possible. Currently Erik Bohl is still in first place and basically
untouchable at this point, followed by Will Paul with Scott Ross in third.
In terms of Warhammer 40 000 the current leader is Taylor Bell with Jason
Saunders in second and Garrett Pogson following in third. In The Lord
of the Rings, Will Paul is currently leading with his horrifying army
of bats and spiders, followed by Scott Kelly in second and Simon Mack
rounding out the top three.
Next week we will be unveiling details of the 07-08 season, so until
next time I hope to see you out there.

Another week closer to the end of the season and it is nearing your last
chance to earn Hall Of Heroes points. As it stands right now you will
need over 90 points to qualify for the Warhammer 40 000 Grand Tournament
and over 100 points to qualify for the Warhammer Grand Tournament. If
you are very close to those totals, you had better get out there and
play if you wish to qualify.
One piece of news that I am here to pass on is about my friend Big Jay
Russell. Big Jay, whom a lot of you will know from his work with the
Hall of Heroes and the Conflict Tournaments in the past (He was also
one of the voices on the phone in Direct Services for years) is regrettably
no longer with Games Workshop. Jay has moved on to new things and I would
like to wish him luck in wherever his travels may take him. What this
means to you is that unfortunately this also means that Big Jay’ Meg-o-thon
must be cancelled. I personally was looking forward to this event, not
that I could handle 48 hours of gaming, but an entire weekend where every
minute was completely devoted to gaming would be fantastic to be a part
of. Until next time I hope to see you out there, and Jay thanks for everything.

It has been a very busy couple of weeks for the Events team. It started
with a tournament on January 20th at Gryphon Games. I really do enjoy
going to Gryphon Games, I always end up getting challenging games with
great opponents and the staff are great guys as well. All great games
except game 2 that is, who rolls a miscast on their very first spell
and follows it by rolling snake eyes on the miscast table, really!!.
There goes my 400 point Vampire Lord and the army starts to crumble with
it. Nothing like losing a game before your opponent gets to move. I guess
that will teach me to dabble in the necromantic arts.
Last weekend was the first ever Conflict Windsor and what a fantastic
time it was. The guys in Windsor were extremely helpful and extremely
gracious that we held a Conflict in their home town. What a beautiful
city it is. I would like to thank everyone from the Windsor area for
all their help and the warm reception that we received. Windsor brought
together some of the greatest players from across Canada and if this
was any taste of how the Grand Tournament was going to be, I am truly
looking forward to some fantastic gaming in May. All the results will
be online shortly, Warhammer 40 000 was won by Windsor native Ivor Chandler
who had the greatest lead I believe I have ever seen in one of our Conflicts.
Warhammer 40 000 Best General was won by 16 year old Taylor Bell, really
Taylor had a great run and went undefeated. Warhammer was won by Haig
McLisky hailing originally from New Zealand but currently residing in
Ottawa. Not to worry players from Windso,r your local boys had a great
showing with Chris Wojcik coming in a close second. Chris had a difficult
road and had to fight five fantastic generals and he came out on top
in every game except the last. Thanks Rahul, you’re my boy. My
final words on Windsor is that we will be back next season and I look
forward to yet another fantastic tournament.
In terms of the Hall Of Heroes there are only a few weeks left to get
your points. I myself will be going to Veterans Challenge at Phoenix
games in Kitchener on the weekend of the 17th and 18th. The Veterans
Challenge is always a great event, as Tom Moskalik always has a little
twist on the regular tournament format. I am also going to lend Big Jay
Russell a hand for his Megathon on the weekend of February 24th and 25th.
Big Jay is running something very cool, it is 48 hours of gaming having
a game every 2 hours. It is for Warhammer Fantasy or Warhammer 40 000.
The best part is that the system is similar in format to late night gaming
in which you play for prizes except you can come and go as you please
throughout the night. Big Jay is even going to mail out the prizes if
you are unable to stay to the end. The cost if $40 but considering the
prizes he is bringing and the points you can receive it is well worth
the price. He is also going to be supplying snacks throughout the 48
hour event. If you are interested in more details click here.

Another week has gone by in the Hall Of Heroes, Eric is still on top
of the pile with no sign of slowing down. I personally spent last weekend
up in North Bay for a Warhammer doubles tournament. It was held at North
Bay Games and Hobbies, which is a great store run by a fantastic individual,
Terry. Terry was actually my partner for the tournament and we put on
a great showing coming in second Overall and second for painting. I have
to apologize to Terry as apparently my curse to always be second continues
and I must have dragged him down with me. The tournament itself was run
by one of the illustrious Grey Knights, Rob Steele. Rob is a fantastic
individual who ran an absolutely great tournament, he was able to keep
the day moving at a great pace and was extremely well organized throughout
the event. Although North Bay might be a little out of the way for some
people in Ontario, trust me it is worth the trip. It is a great store,
with a great owner that runs fantastic tournaments in the middle of a
great community.

I have been asked lately about the Empire book and how its release affects
the Middenheim list in the Storm of Chaos book, well to put it simply
it doesn’t. The Middenheim list is still perfectly fine and completely
legal in the Hall Of Heroes so feel free to use it.
I am off to a tournament at Gryphon Games this weekend and then to Conflict
Windsor on the 27th. Until next time, I hope to see you out there.

It is the start of a new year and the beginning of the home stretch of
this season of the Hall Of Heroes. There are a few new developments in
the Hall Of Heroes that you should be aware of. The first is the new
Errata’s and FAQ’s that were put up on the Games Workshop
website at the end of last month. If you have not already I ask that
you please give them a read. Here is a quick link to make your life that
much easier (click
here for the Errata). These new FAQ’s help to sort out the
issues with such things as multiple units charging a single unit of skirmishers,
entangling a unit multiple times with Night Goblin Netters and the enemy
in the way rules. These clarifications will help in making your games
as smooth as possible, and as some of them change the way some armies
play it is best to be aware of them.
The other new development is the presence of the new empire army book
that hits the shelves on Thursday, although it has been available in
the army boxes for the last couple of weeks. With the presence of the
new army book the question that inevitably comes up is which book is
allowed at Conflict Windsor. Conflict Windsor falls on the very end of
the grace period for players to adapt to the new rules, so we will be
allowing both sets of rules at Conflict Windsor on January 27th and 28th.
As is the usual practice when a tournament falls in the thirty day grace
period with both versions of the army are allowed players must choose
which army book they are using and use that version for the entire tournament.
There is no mixing and matching between lists, you either follow the
old one entirely or the newer one.
I am really looking forward to Conflict Windsor as I have never had a
chance to visit that fine city. Chris Wojcik, whom I had mentioned in
this month’s White Dwarf wished that I had given a way for people
to contact him as he is always looking for ways to promote the hobby
and especially the Windsor community. If you want to find out about the
Windsor community or speak to Chris at orks9@hotmail.com.
As always I hope to see you out there.

Hello Again,
Well, it sure has been a busy month; to tell you the truth I have spent
the majority of the month off work. Fortunately the Hall Of Heroes does
not stop simply because I do. Just a few short weeks ago saw the completion
of the Paint Or Die challenge and the Paint Or Die tournament; we had
a great turnout with nearly 40 people showing up including over a dozen
Games Workshop staff. This event was a great chance for the customers
and staff to compete as equals. When all was said and done our staffers
came in second and third overall, but a customer Richard Clark squeaked
by into best overall by just one, point. Only two points ahead of me.
In terms of the overall Hall of Heroes we are nearing the last two months
of this season. Eric Bohl is walking away with the overall title as he
is now well ahead of the competition with over 400 points thanks to the
over 100 tournament games he has played. I am also sure there are also
several tournament results yet to come in that he has played in.
Rounding out the top three are Scott Ross with his Lizardmen and Colin
Sankey with his High Elves. These two are already planning to settle
their differences at Conflict Windsor. My money is on Scott with his
Lizards (Sorry Colin).
It seems this is the season of the Fantasy players as Eric, Scott and
Colin are also the top three players in terms of Warhammer Fantasy. In
regards to Warhammer 40 000, Jason Saunders is well ahead of the rest
of the pack, followed by Taylor Bell, way to go Taylor. Dwayne Allison
trails just two points behind Taylor, playing either his Tyranids, Eldar
or, his Daemonhunters.
Last month I was able to make it to several tournaments including Necro
30 in Trenton, A St Laurent Bunker Tournament and the Paint or Die tournament.
I will be traveling to the beautiful city of North Bay for a doubles
tournament on January 12th with the illustrious Fat Gaz. I am also hoping
to attend the 2 000 point Warhammer tournament at Gryphon Games and Hobbies,
and if everything goes well hopefully I will make it out to the third
Veterans Challenge in Kitchener’s Phoenix Games as I am second
in the staff Hall Of Heroes and would like to overtake the dastardly
Craig Bodycote. The only way to do that is to get in as many tournaments
as I can before seasons end. So if you want a piece of me, come on out
to one of these events. I will be more then happy to beat you. Until
next time, I hope to see you out there.

These last couple of weeks have been quite busy, Conflict Montreal took
place just over a week ago, and White Dwarf Day Ottawa took place last
weekend. Conflict Montreal was a lot of fun as always. The painting in
Montreal is always mind blowing, and I love to go to Montreal just to
see what they produce. Team Montreal was at the Conflict giving painting
demonstrations. (You may know these guys as they made their presence
felt in last years Golden Demon.) The level at which these guys paint
is just astounding, and their Warpstone entries were absolutely fantastic.
The tournament at Conflict Montreal was great, but Late Night Gaming
was mind blowing with fifty participants battling out until midnight.
What a fantastic time this was.
What I wanted to speak about was to invite those Hall Of Heroes tournament
goers in the Ontario area to the Paint Or Die Royal Rumble happening
at the Oakville bunker. The Paint Or Die Royal Rumble is a special tournament
that will feature the paint or die participants including Fat Gaz and
myself. It is also open to the public if anyone wishes to join in against
the staff. So any of you that wanted to see how us GW staff do in a tournament
or wanted to take a shot at us feel free to come on out and join us.
It is not often we have a tournament where staff and the public can fight
on an equal level and everyone is allowed to win, this truly will be
a great tournament. I personally want a shot at some of the greatest
generals and leaders of the Hall Of Heroes. Carlo Roque and Eric Bohl
I am talking to you. Hope to see everyone there.

Conflict Montreal is approaching quickly and I just wanted to speak a
little about it. Conflict Montreal is traditionally one of the most fantastic
tournaments in the country and I look forward to going out there every
year. There are always a huge number of armies painted to a fantastic
standard and a large number of truly fantastic generals. Conflict Montreal
is also the Conflict Tournament that usually gets the greatest cross
section of provinces being represented. Conflict Montreal always seems
to be the one tournament players travel large distances to attend and
this years looks like it will be no different. What actually worries
me about this year’s tournament is not the current number of players
signed up, but the lack of local support we have currently in attendance.
There are very few players from Quebec let alone the Montreal area attending
this year. So if you are a gamer in the Montreal area or Quebec in general
it would be great to see you come out and make Conflict Montreal a true
representation of the Quebec gaming community. If you are unable to make
it to the Conflict Tournament we would love to see you at the Conflict
anyways checking out the festivities or come out to Late Night Gaming.
Late Night Gaming focuses on having an enjoyable break from regular gaming
with crazy rules and great prizes, running from 7pm until Midnight on
Saturday November 11th. You will even get a chance to play against some
of the GW staff and tournament organizers like myself or Fat Gaz.
I actually did have something related to the Hall Of Heroes to speak
about and that is in regards to the new Eldar Codex. The Codex on its
own will not hit shelves until later this month, although the book is
available for purchase as part of the Eldar Army Deal that is currently
available. What this means is, that yes the new Eldar Codex is legal
at Conflict Montreal and yes, the old Eldar Codex is legal as well. Conflict
Montreal falls in the middle of the thirty day grace period where both
rules sets are allowed. Eldar players must decide before the tournament
which Codex they are planning on using and build their army from that.
Obviously players must stick to the rules in just one version of the
Eldar Codex and can not mix and match. As always to alleviate any potential
problems there will be staff on hand to answer any questions and we will
have a few Eldar Codex available for players to look through on the day.
Until next time, I hope to see you out there.

We are entering into the last third of the Hall Of Heroes season and
it is once again a great time to take a quick look at what’s happening.
The overall leader in the Hall Of Heroes League and starting to run away
with it is Eric Bohl, who currently sits at the top of the pile with
over 300points. Eric has made it to every possible tournament he can,
has attended several Conflicts including Conflict Halifax and is planning
on attending Conflict Montreal and Windsor. Not only is Eric playing
a lot of games, but he is having great success winning numerous trophies
in several different categories.
In second place is Colin Sankey another individual who has been traveling
across Canada attending Conflicts. Colin is a fantastic painter and has
numerous trophies to show for it. Following closely behind is Jason Saunders
another established painter and fantastic general, who won Best Overall
in Conflict Vancouver this year. It is great to see that the top three
individuals are from various regions across the country.
Another interesting race in the Hall Of Heroes Competition is for the
champion of each province. This season the winner of each province will
receive a free Conflict Tournament Ticket so that they can attend their
local Conflict next season.
British Columbia sees the battle of the Jason’s continue with Jason
Saunders and his Crimson Fists leading and Jason Dyer with his Sisters
of Battle (Or his tank company or something completely different, its
been a while since I have spoken to Jason so I am not too sure what his
current flavour of army is) in second. The battle of Ontario is being
dominated by Eric Bohl followed by Scott Ross with his angry Lizards
and the ‘young man’ himself Will Paul, who plays one of the
most vicious Nurgle armies I have ever seen. Alberta is being led by
a trio of Calgary ‘Nutters’ in the form of Colin Sankey,
Chris Dancocks and Paul Ting. All three are fantastic guys with very
pretty armies. Nova Scotia is being fought between the two recent Conflict
winners, Dan Schreiber with yet more lizards and Ray Shields with his
very bright sea of Tyranids. New Brunswick is also being hotly contested
by Tim Linfield and Mike Cripps. Quebec is up in the air at the moment
as Conflict Montreal will be coming to town on the eleventh of November,
but currently Quebec is being led by Nick Bourgogne followed by Lionel
Labreuil and Norm Brodati. Manitoba is being led by one of the Astronomi-con
guys Christian Augst, while Saskatchewan is being led by Paul Jessop
who is stepping back a little from this years Hall Of Heroes.
Well that’s a quick snap shot of the Hall Of Heroes as it looks
right now, I am sure by the time you have read this things will have
already changed. So as always I hope to see you out there.

Hello again,
It has been a long time since I had a chance to write about the Hall
Of Heroes. The Conflict Season is in full swing, which is the main reason
my desk in the office has been feeling so lonely.
As I write this, the Hall Of Heroes is being led by Eric Bohl. Eric has
come out of nowhere playing in every game in any system and has been
quickly gathering the points. Jason Saunders is in second, although he
is attending a lot less tournaments then Eric, Jason is consistently
winning best Overall or Best Painted awards with his beautifully painted
army and sound tactical play. Scott Ross is currently in Third place
overall, rampaging across Ontario with his Lizardmen, although people
seem to enjoy playing Scott as he generally comes back from the tournaments
with the Best Overall or the Best Sportsman Trophy.
The Warhammer 40 000 competition is being led by the two Jason’s
in B.C. Jason Saunders with his Crimson Fists and Jason Dyer, with his
Space Wolves, Imperial Guard or anything else he feels like putting on
the battlefield. In third place is Bob Hill, who has been bouncing all
over the country with his Ultramarines.
Warhammer Fantasy is being led by Scott Ross followed by two players
from Alberta, Paul Ting and Colin Sankey. Paul Ting is a fantastic General
and one of those players who can pump out a beautifully painted army
every month. He is just cleaning up out west. Colin Sankey has been wreaking
havoc with his High Elf army and I hope he will continue to do so.
Well, I am busy getting ready for Conflict Tournament Halifax, our first
Conflict out east and I am very excited to be going. For those of you
crazy gamers who travel across the country to compete in our Conflict
it would be great to see you there. I really can not wait to meet the
great players from the East Coast and finally talk to them face to face.
For more information on Conflict Halifax click

Before I go I just wanted to mention a quick word about army composition.
I am a very competitive gamer and make armies that are very good. I always
have a theme or idea in mind when I create an army, but I do not pull
any punches when putting together an army and will make it as effective
as possible. My personal feelings on Army Composition scoring in tournaments,
is very simple. Unless you do something directly against the background
or history of our Games you will get full marks. By that I mean if the
only two powers in your Chaos army are Khorne and Slaanesh I am going
to dock you for making an army outside of the spirit of our games. I
really want to know your feelings on army composition, so feel free to
write me at hall.heroes@games-workshop.ca
There is so much more to talk about, recent FAQ’s, the new Warhammer
and its impact on the Hall Of Heroes. Unfortunately I will not be able
to get to that until next time. Until then I hope to see you out there.

Now that we are well into the season it time to reflect on how players
are doing across the country. We have had one Conflict in the east and
one Conflict in the West so the points have been spread out across the
country, although right now it is the time of the west. The leader in
the Hall Of Heroes is Jason Saunders from out in Vancouver with his beautifully
painted Space Marines (I am sure you have seen them in the Conflict Coverage
of any west coast Conflict.) Following behind him are two of the Alberta
boys, Colin Sankey and Paul Ting two people you will know if you play
in tournaments out in Alberta. Two of the Ottawa guys, Andrew Tripple
and Will Paul finish out the top five.
The Conflict Season continues with Conflict Vancouver on August 19th
and 20th and this is sure to only help to elevate those players from
the West Coast. If you are trying to qualify for the Grand Tournament
and live in the west coast I hope to see you at the Conflict as it is
the best place to score those much needed Hall Of Heroes points. Do not
forget to come check out Late Night Gaming, this is another chance to
gain some Hall Of Heroes points as well as to win fabulous prizes. Late
Night Gaming is free to Conflict Tournament goers and Conflict volunteers,
it runs from 7pm until midnight on Saturday August 19th.
It is also a great time to speak about Hall Of Heroes tournaments and
new rules, wheteher they are army books or a new edition to the game.
Generally we allow a 30 day grace period before you are expected to play
following the new rule set. This period allows players to purchase the
new rules and become familiar with them before they are expected to play
against them. This rule also applies to the Conflict, making Conflict
Halifax the first tournament to use the new Warhammer Fantasy rules.
If you have any questions about which rules a particular Hall Of Heroes
tournament is using, the best thing to do is call the organizer and find
out.
Well that is it for now, see you all out there.
July 10th, 2006
On July 24th we ran the second of our trial Late Night Gaming Events
at the Oakville Battle Bunker, this one was 1000 points of Warhammer
40,000. 40 excited hobbyists showed up to give this session of Late Night
Gaming a proper testing. Late Night Gaming is a special event that is
run similar to a tournament, except that instead of trying to win games,
you are trying to win cards. Late Night Gaming also rewards prizes as
opposed to trophy, so there is no Best Overall, Best Painted etc. To
win cards players need to capture table quarters, objectives or even
something as simple as causing a morale check. This shifts the focus
away from just winning the game and more onto completing a set of tasks.
To throw people a little off their game every table was given a randomly
selected group of special rules, from meteor showers to every model in
the army having rending attacks.
The first game was a straight match up, while the second game was a challenge
battle where players were able to choose their opponents. The third game
was a special Spy vs Spy scenario where players received a bonus card
every time their spy killed the opposing spy.
At the end of the night the player with the greatest hand won the Grand
prize, while the rest of the players received various other prizes depending
on the hand they had. The best part was everyone went home a winner as
everyone received a prize
These special events will be run at all of the Conflicts across the country
starting at 7pm on the Saturday night of the Conflict. For full details
on everything that is happening at your local Conflict CLICK

The Conflict Season is about to kick off, so it is a very exciting
time in the Hall Of Heroes. The Conflict tournaments are heavily weighted
in the Hall of Heroes with their winners automatically qualifying for
the Grand Tournament. The bonus points awarded to the Conflict participants
will also have a huge impact on the overall Hall Of Heroes ranking. Conflict
Tournament Ottawa which takes place on June 17th and 18th will not only
be the first of these new Conflicts that are primarily a tournament,
it will also be the first Conflict using the new Hall of Heroes rules.
I can not wait to see how the changes will affect the Conflict Season.
In terms of Hall Of Heroes news I wish to speak about the Storm of Chaos
army lists and the Eye of Terror army lists in our Hall Of Heroes tournaments.
We here in Canada are going to continue to allow the lists from these
books to be used in all of the Hall Of Heroes tournaments for this season.
This also includes our Conflicts and this seasons Grand Tournament.
In the Hall Of Heroes rankings we have the battle of the Jasons, with
Jason Pinhay and Jason Saunders battling it out for the top position
of the Hall Of Heroes. Both Jasons are avid Warhammer 40 000 players,
with a third Warhammer 40 000 Jeff Martel rounding out the top 3 players.
Mike Dawson is currently in the lead for Warhammer Fantasy followed by
Scott Ross and Chad Shewman.
The competition will get really heated as we move into the summer and
the Conflict season. I hope to see you all out there.

Just recently we here at Games Workshop (we being Big
Jay and myself), ran an unique gaming event in the bunker
called Late Night Gaming. This event will be held at
every Conflict starting with Calgary after the Conflict
proper. This event is a little different and although
it is run loosely like a tournament it is very different
and winning is no longer the primary objective. Although
no trophies are given out, participants receive Hall
Of Heroes points and there is a great selection of prizes
to be won. Tickets are $15, but the event is free to
any Conflict Fantasy or 40K ticket holder. To give you
the lowdown on the event from a players perspective,
Deborah Buckwald Sobestianowich gives her report on the
event.

I went to the most
interesting tournament that I have ever been
to in my very short time going to tournaments.
I hope that the Battle Bunker in Oakville continues
to hold these type of Hall of Heroes events.
Instead of holding the normal,
fun tournaments that you would go to at the Rogue
Trader Stores, Battle Bunkers or Conflicts, someone
decided to change things up a little. Well, to
be honest they changed things a lot.
There were NO trophies handed
out at this tournament. So there was no competition
for best painted, best overall, best general
or best sportsman. Everyone walked out of this
competition with some sort of prize, which was
an interesting change. Once my husband and I
walked into the Battle Bunker and saw the wall
of balloons, I knew that this was going to be
something crazy those event people cooked up.
Well they had us randomly
paired with people, and then one of the partners
could pop a balloon and get a secondary challenge,
the secondary challenge added an interesting
twist to the pitched battle. It was not a challenge
in the manner of trying to accomplish an objective.
It was challenge that either gave your army an
edge or took an edge you have away.
In my husband’s first
battle he had to play with Animosity so every
unit in his Vampire Counts Army had to take an
Animosity Test as well as every unit in his opponent’s
army. Gary’s Giant for the Vampire Counts
failed the test and he had to charge his own
nearest unit. Well my husbands favourite flanking
unit died. Poor muffin!
For me, I ended up getting
a rule that makes all of my army Stubborn. I
have Dwarfs! With their leadership, do I really
need stubborn? Kevin had Tomb Kings, another
army that does not need stubborn because they
are Immune To Psychology.
So the craziness continued
until midnight. Getting things like taking 2
off the leadership when taking a panic test.
Usually with Dwarfs their high leadership is
my golden trump card. The two off their leadership
for panic tests killed me. Against Dark Elves
no less, how humiliating.
Then to add to the madness,
we were also given playing cards for managing
to get the objectives, winning had nothing to
do with the cards, it was all about the objectives.
Getting standards, table quarters, charging flanks
and issuing challenges were the ways one received
cards. The entire purpose of the night was to
get the best poker hand in order to win the greatest
prize.
At the end of the tournament,
everyone was raving about it and I joined in.
It was to date the best tournament I have ever
been to. It was relaxed, fun, and there was tons
of laughter. I have to join those other players
with their rave review of Cory, Big Jay and their
Late Night Gaming Event.
Please, please let there
be more tournaments like the one on April 22,
2006. Words fail me to describe the amount of
enjoyment my husband and I had. How does amazing,
incredible, fantastic, fabulous, terrific, outrageous,
exceptional, and phenomenal sound? Just off the
top of my head. But that does not do it justice,
you will just have to come to one of these competitions
to see for yourself the craziness and fun.
The things I enjoyed the
most were being able to randomly play against
competitors that I may normally never play against
and having fun objectives that changed your focus
from simply winning the game, because in the
end, you wanted cards for your poker hand, not
to win the pitched battle. You could do crazy
stuff during a game and it would not matter.
On a personal note, I would
love to see more tournaments like this, I would
like to see rogue trader stores take up this
idea and add a crazy element to their tournaments.
It is fun being able to throw caution to the
wind and be reckless during a competition. Imagine
being able to sacrifice your Vampire Lord and
it would not matter. Isn’t that crazy?
That about sums up the entire
tournament right there, you can sacrifice your
hero with the highest leadership and it would
not matter. Crazy, crazy, crazy but dude was
it fun. I loved it!
Again, I cannot compliment
Cory, Jason and whomever else was involved with
organizing this crazy, fun Hall of Heroes event.
Guys I look forward to the next one and whatever
wacky, insane schemes you can come up with next
time. |

April 21st, 2006
This week we announce the 2006-2007 Hall
Of Heroes standings have gone live. We were waiting
until we had several tournaments to enter before
we updated the list. Along with the standings and
leader board is a new link to the list of tournaments
that have been submitted to
Games Workshop, when you check your score also check
the list to see if your organizers results have been
submitted. Good luck everyone.
On an unrelated note, this past weekend the annual
Staff Tournament was held at the Oakville Battle bunker.
Good Friday has traditionally seen the gathering of
Games Workshop Staff from across the country getting
together to do battle in all three of our gaming systems.
This year was no exception as 78 Games Workshop staff
members got together to determine the staff champions
in each of our games. For GW Staff members this is
our Grand Tournament, the greatest tournament that
we are able to be an active part in. When the dust
had settled at the end of the day the various winners
had emerged and will reign as staff champions for the
06-07 season. The 06-07 Staff Champions are as follows:
Warhammer Fantasy Battle Overall Champion: Ash Barker:
Ogres
Lord of the Rings Overall Champion: Kevin Heskith: Riders of Rohan
Warhammer 40 000 Overall Champion: Ryan Slopiak: Tyranids
