This is Elaine’s first army and I don't think she fully realizes how much work an army is, but then again, when there is money on the line she will very rarely fail.

October 20, 2006

The spread of purple and blue is continuing in my army as I get closer and closer to receiving my pretty new shelf. I have been painting regularly and am well on my way to completion.

In the last weeks I have actually played a few games of Warhammer after much coaxing. I was playing as stand in for the General Manager of Games Workshop Dave McFarlane in the Lunch-Hammer league in the office. Dave told me that I could not lose and I took a moment to remind each of my opponents that the boss says I should win before every game. I may have also threatened to punch them in the nose if they win, but after uttering so many threats they all blend together.

My first opponent was some nasty British guy with a bad attitude called Bodycote. (I have to tell you every time she says Bodycote she literally spits venom - editor) I drew against him. To be honest I was just shy of a victory. I then went on to beat Ryan Zukisomething-wicz, his name is so long I can’t really be expected to remember it now can I? I then played Chris Alten from the warehouse and he actually had the gall to beat me. I have heard that his employment is now under review. He may also have had his credit rating destroyed and has been put into collections, but I am only the Accounts Receivable person so I wouldn’t know anything about this.

Until next time, remember if your army is not purple and blue you are not doing it right.

Elaine Gray here. I am one of the illustrious accountants that work for Games Workshop. I have been at Games Workshop for several years and have finally decided to commit to collecting and painting an army. Why am I painting an army? It’s not to fight glorious battles across the table top or simply to prove that a woman can do it just as well as anybody else. The reason is quite simple, it was for a shelf. Why a Shelf? Every staff member who works at the HQ is entitled to a shelf in the display cabinet, but you can not receive your shelf until you have a fully painted army. So it is time to take what is rightfully mine with only a few unpainted models standing between me and victory.

Chaos mortals are my army of choice. This is because they are the meanest looking army and they most represent me. That is because like the chaos army I am mean, nasty and I carry a big axe. I am in Accounts Receivable after all. Trust me, you do not want to owe me money. The real reason was that they would look pretty in Blue and Purple. Believe me, everything should be blue and purple. So here I am with a sea of little men and a paint brush and only ten weeks to get it done. Let me tell you though, when there is something on the line I do not fail. (Editors note, unless it is a certain bet to eat chocolate cake, then she will lose and still deny to this day)

Two months from now I will be sitting pretty with a fantastic new shelf, a cute army of blue and purple warriors to put on it and a brand new battleforce courtesy of the British fellow who is always mean to me; Craig Bodycote.
