Talk about something that has snowballed quickly. The original
idea behind this painting competition was to get a few of
us fired up about painting new armies for the latest edition
of Warhammer. I put forward this proposal for a painting
competition to help add some additional drive to those of
us who have
a little trouble completing an army. The principle was simple,
you had ten weeks to paint a 2,000 point Warhammer
army. Anyone who fails to
finish
their army by the established date has to buy everyone who
does complete their army, a battle force/battalion box, therefore
motivating you to get it done. Since the challenge was originally
just a few of us, it would work
out
fine. This making the punishment a maximum of
only a couple hundred
dollars.
It was at this point that things went wild. More and more
people wanted to join in, then we decided to hold a special
tournament
in the Oakville bunker at the culmination of the challenge, Saturday
December 2nd, and finally we decided we should put it online
so others could follow along with our progress and maybe
even do the challenge on their own.
So here we are, 19 hobbyist in all, madly painting up to
nearly 40,000 points of fantasy miniatures, with a lot of
them being
goblins. Trust me that is a lot of models. The maximum punishment
for the competition is now well over $2000, the accounting
department is even getting together a loan for the any individuals
that fail. So please look in to see where everyone is in
terms
of their painting, we have even given odds on completion
for all of the participants.
So without further ado, meet our participants and the lists:
(you will need a program capable of reading
Microsoft Word Documents
to view these lists.)
