Shane Fox :
Some thoughts on clubbing and gaming edict....
Greetings! For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Shane Fox (Also known as Brother Fox, Fox, Foxy, GK Fox and etc) and I am a Grey Knight Brother in Medicine Hat, Alberta. I also am one of da Big M.O.R.K.S Bosses, as I help run da MORKS (Medicine (Hats) Organization of Regimented Khaotic Silliness) with Brother Lyle. This month I’m writing on the power of clubbing (the hummies)!!
Before I was a Grey Knight, I was a member of G.R.O.T.S in Red Deer. I was under the leadership of Da Big GROTS Boss Grant Dyck. It didn’t take Grant long to notice my love for the game and the youth (young bloods) that played it. I love seeing young gamers grow in sportsmanship and gaming edict, because they are the future of the hobby. The best place to do this is in a club setting.
I have three children, all in the chess club at school and I have trained them to kick butt in chess… with sportsmanship and game edict. I tell them, that if they play with the right heart and enjoy the hobby they will win every game, even when they lose.
Well, work has taken me to Medicine Hat and I’ve started playing with some local players (great bunch of guys) to develop a club that is supported by the local independent retailer COMIC READERS.
Now, I know the name G.R.O.T.S and M.O.R.K.S has a common theme going on here, but the greatest reason for that is the simple fact the G.R.O.T.S is one of the best clubs I know of and that DNA needs to passed on to other clubs willing to learn. It takes a lot of commitment for club members and Grey Knights to make a club strong so it can present the public with the greatest gaming experience possible.
Any community can start a club and call upon the support of a Grey Knight to help take it to the next level. We as Grey Knights, have a lot of support standing behind us in Games Workshop and the War Gear needed to provide an excellent gaming experience for young and old players.
In the last month our club has grown so much, not because of me as a Grey Knight but the heart the local guys have for the hobby. I get to be part of gamers who love the hobby and desire to see others enjoy all that Games Workshop has to offer for the best club experience possible!!
Well, as Craig (Grey Knights Chapter Master) would say, cheers chap!
