Nick Itsou:
Grey Knight Captain

Could you please introduce yourself?
My name is Nick Itsou and I am a Grey Knight Captain. Previously I was part of the Canadian Outrider program, and I am one of the longest serving volunteers. Before becoming a volunteer, I worked for Games Workshop retail at the Scarborough Store until I found a job in my chosen career of engineering. My favourite part of the hobby is meeting all the enthusiastic hobbyists. I really enjoy events like Conflicts and Games Day, where I get to see all the excellent participants of this hobby, both rookie and veteran! As a Grey Knight, I am happy to run events and do my part to help the hobby grow. After all, I too was once just getting into the hobby and I had to figure it out on my own. Back then we didn't have a lot of clubs, or volunteers. It's a privilege to be able to support the hobby in this way.

Where are you from?
I am from Scarborough, and generally work within the GTA. I've been known to range as far as Barrie and other distant Ontario locales for local events. I also travel to places like Montreal for the national events, like Conflict. So don't be surprised if one day you find me at a conflict in BC or the east coast some day!

How long have you been in the Hobby?
I've been collecting and painting toy soldiers since the age of seven. I was a huge collector of WWII figures and expanded into fantasy miniatures for role-play. I have collected many of the Citadel range of models and played Games Workshop games since they first appeared. You could say I basically grew up with the Company, enjoying every new product line as it arrived!

What was your first experience with Games Workshop?
I had my first experience with GW when I walked into a small local gaming store. I found a pack of Citadel skeletons; they fascinated me as I had just started role-playing. I didn't have quite enough money to buy that little pack. But after a few weeks of saving my change, I went back and bought several. Then I saw one of the first glorious catalogues of available Citadel miniatures and I was hooked!

What armies do you have painted?

My collection of painted armies includes;

Warhammer:
Chaos Mortals, Orcs and Goblins, Empire

The Lord of The Rings:
Riders of Rohan, Army of the White Hand of Saruman

Inquisitor:
Retinue based on a Puritan Inquisitor in power armour, with gun slinger, Tech Priest, and sundry other servants.

Warhammer 40,000:
Several Space Marines armies, including Crimson Fists and my own home brewed chapter. Chaos Space Marines, Dark Eldar, Tyranids, Eldar Combat Patrol, Ork Combat Patrol.

Bloodbowl:
Norscan Rampagers

Mordheim:

Middenheimers

Battle Fleet Gothic:
Imperial Navy, Space Marine Battle Fleet, Necrons
Necromunda:
Redemptionists

What projects are you working on now?
There are so many... I'm always trying to expand my armies, but currently I working on two armies: Tyranids for 40K, and Empire for Warhammer. I'm also putting some additional touches on my newest Space Marine army. I often do side projects when cool and interesting models come out, to add some variety to my painting time. I find the best way to keep painting interesting is to mix it up and paint something different each time you start a new project.
