Stefan Grambart :
Grey Knight

Could you please introduce yourself?
Hi, my name is Stefan Grambart and I am a Brother with the Grey Knights Volunteer Program. I’m still a little new to the Knights, but have found the experience greatly rewarding thus far – and not just because of the practical rewards! I initially expected that working at the GW events couldn’t be as much fun as playing in them… But the great GW staff and other volunteers proved me wrong! I now count volunteering as a fun, memorable new facet of my hobby.

Where are you from?
I was born in Ottawa and have lived here (or across the river in Hull) my entire life. As a kid I was lucky enough to visit Europe. One of the things I loved about that trip was visiting old castles and ruins… they definitely sparked my interest for all things medieval!

How long have you been in the Hobby?
When I was introduced to GW in the summer of 1987, I had already been painting miniatures for a couple of years. I became an avid player of WHFB (then in its 3rd edition), but my interest began to wane just before the next edition was released. It wasn’t until 2000 that I returned to the hobby (initially through Mordheim), but have since collected my largest army yet, and am branching out into GW’s other core games.

What was your first experience with Games Workshop?
I can vividly remember buying my first GW product – a blister of metal Space Marines and an issue of White Dwarf. Thanks to the issue’s awesome ‘Eavy Metal painted minis, I found myself getting into GW’s line of products including WHFB, Talisman, Blood Bowl, and even WHFRP. While I was always interested in 40K, I never really moved beyond the occasional game of Space Hulk until just recently, but am now working on an expanding Tau force of my very own.

What armies do you have painted?

My collection of painted armies (past and present) includes;

Warhammer:
-Vampire Counts (3,000 pts)
-Wood Elves (800 pts)
-Dark Elves (1,000 pts)

Warhammer 40,000:
-Tau (1,000 pts)
Mordheim
- Tilean Mercenaries (18 models)
- Undead (12 models)
Blood Bowl:
-Humans (circa 1988)

What projects are you working on now?
Where to start? I’m still working on my Tau force and have agreed to take part in a Lord of the Rings “challenge” this winter. I’ve been meaning to start a couple of new armies for Fantasy (Forest Spirits and Empire), complete with big conversion projects – one of which I hope to have done in time for the Golden Daemons this year.
