What is a Club?

As a loose definition a club is:

"TFive or more people meeting together regularly to pursue a common interest."

It doesn't matter whether you are meeting together in a school, college, garage or wherever. The point is that when you get together with friends or strangers to pursue the Games Workshop Hobby you have made a club. Without knowing it many of us are already in such a group! With a little effort and a little work you and your friends can take advantage of the many great opportunities out there for your club!

What is a Regiment of Renown Gaming Club?

A Regiment of Renown Gaming Club is a club that qualifies to register on the Games Workshop Clubs website. This is really easy and your gaming group probably qualifies already! There are just 4 simple rules.

A Regiment of Renown Gaming Club...

-Must consist of at least five members.

-Must play at least one Games Workshop game. From Warhammer to The Lord of The Rings to Warhammer 40,000, any of these games will do.

-Must meet regularly at least once per month.

-Must select one Club Champion to be the liaison with Games Workshop when registering.

Why should we form a club?

Here are just five of the many ways that being a regular club member can help you to have a better time and get more out of the hobby:

1. You can all get regular games of your favorite rules system.

2. You can all help each other create and enjoy the ultimate army of miniatures.

3. You can work together to build gaming boards and scenery to make your games come to life.

4. You can take part in more than the standard game – stuff like campaigns, tournaments, special scenarios, and club ladders are all within your grasp.

5. You can all work together to build hobby skills. This way you can all get more from your hobby than you ever could alone.

One thing to bear in mind when forming a club..

Keep it simple!

The very best advice anyone can offer you is to keep things simple and enjoy whatever strikes you as the most fun at any given moment. Never lose sight of the goal in all hobby activities – to have a great time with your friends!

A common mistake is to rush in with a new bunch of friends to create the most grandiose and arcane super-campaign. Whilst the initial excitement drives people for a week or two, the complexity of such activities can quickly overtake the players and bog them down. Such activities rarely last more than a few weeks.

Working steadily upwards towards larger and larger projects will both build up your confidence and understanding of how best to do things, but also allow you to make sure you do not overwhelm yourselves.
