Hello everyone,
My name is Dave Noyle and I am a professional pixel-masher and ink-wielder at Games Workshop HQ. I am also a laughably slow miniature painter and subsequently, a bit of an idiot. I’m sure I made the decision to get involved in Paint or Die this year whilst under the influence of a particularly potent batch of our ‘top quality’ office coffee. When Cory told me that over 70 people are signed up this year I immediately considered fleeing to far away Myanmar. I hear they have nice mountains there.
Sadly, because I cannot afford reliable transportation to the Far East,
here I am. I will be painting an army I have dubbed “Abaddon and
his Amazing Friends”. My army list contains Abaddon, 30 Chaos Terminators
and handful of Chaos Marines that turned up just to keep everything nice
and legal. As the army weights in at 41 models, I might just make it
out of this alive.
That being said, if you’re reading this and your rich, and you just happen to need a kidney, I’m your man.

Hey! I’m not dead. Believe it or not I actually have some progress to report. As you can see above I’ve applied some paint to most of my models. I’m painting the whole lot in one giant assembly line, which is a bit of a nightmare I admit. By the end of this week I will never want to see a pot of Boltgun Metal again.
I’ve been using the Huron Blackheart Masterclass article from White Dwarf 16 as a guide when painting the metallic portions of the Terminators. The gold painting guide has been especially helpful. I also took a bit of a short cut and sprayed all of my trophy racks with a can of Boltgun Metal spray I dug out of our paints closet. Unlike certain Zulkiewicz’s I Have saved myself from a numbing eternity of painting spikes.
In other news, this week the Hukish finally broke his silence. We’re all quite proud of his progress.

Does that say week 3? That’s not good. As you can
no doubt surmise I have made a stunning lack of progress
thus far. No doubt a rash of weddings and cottage vacations
have conspired to keep me from my painting table. My life
of leisure is leading me to ruin. I swear to paint some models
this weekend, if only to shut Cory “most hated man
in Ontario” Burns up.
At least I am willing to go public with my failures. The
Hukish still remains silent, too cowardly to even admit that
he has progressed even less than I. It is strange that (soon
to be torn limb-from-limb by Jay
Griffiths) Justin
Doyle holds The
Hukish as a champion
of the people. The
Hukish thinks himself too good to even
write a simple blog!
I would also like to start a petition demanding that Fat
Gaz give up his “Morris
Dancing” obsession. As
you can see, the spectacle is too horrifying for human eyes.
The chirping of crickets resounds.

One week down and I’m still not dead and I still have
my kidneys. Even more importantly, I have some models finished,
sort of. The finished Chaos Terminators above are a part
of my army, but were painted before “Paint or Die” begun.
Before accusations of cheating are callously thrown around
allow me to explain. The Terminators in question needed to
be painted for the “Discord” Sneak Peeks at the
Oakville Battle Bunker earlier in the month. As a suitable
replacement (the high judge of Paint or Die has declared)
I will be painting their points worth in additional models
for my army for the deadline.
I have also realized that my army list is all wrong. My
Chaos Marine squads cannot carry their trusty Lascannons
if they are only five strong. I will now have to build some
extra models hefting Plasma Guns to make things nice and
legal. This is of course, all Burn’s fault. As Gaz will attest, Cory only makes cheating army lists.
Finally I have a cool Abaddon model to show off. It’s
a simple conversion, take Abaddon’s head, claw, sword
and spiky bitz and add them to the new plastic Chaos Marine
Lord. Job’s a good’un.
