FAT GAZ - HEAD OFFICE
GREY KNIGHTS
Place Holder
COMPLETE

Hello,

I work at Head Office in the Finance and Marketing departments. The marketing part of me is so excited about painting a new army and playing in the tournament at the end of it. However the accountant in me is worried that as a very slow painter there is a danger I may have to buy a few Baneblades.
In light of this I chose an army that would have very few models and I could paint very quickly. Grey Knights are awesome for this. Spray them black and then dry brush Boltgun metal. Easy. That was my first mistake. There is so much detail on the models it would be a crime not to spend lots of time ensuring that it all stands out beautifully.
With the high points cost for Terminators, Grey Knights and vehicles I should only have to paint about 20 models. That was my second mistake. I decided not to take any vehicles and have lots of Storm Troopers instead. So from 20 models I find my list bulging at over 60 models. I might as well have chosen Imperial Guard. Even Burnsey is only painting 100 marines!!!

I think this time I really might die if I do not finish my army on time. The only hope I have is that my wife never finds out what I have let myself in for.

I’m afraid ter admi' what I 'ave not made any great progress wiv da army since da last update. Can yew blame me? I’ve been trainin' all week fer da cheese roll in Glous-chester-shester-shire. What greater glory can yew imagine then chasin' a wheel of pure English cheese down da side ov a muddy 'ill? The frill ov victory is overpaaahrin' when yew take what first bite ov soiled cheese at da finish line. Truly i' is da spawt ov champions!

Below I 'ave included some pics from last year’s race, yew can almost taste da Double Gloucester! . , innit.

Cheers,

WEEK 3

With it being International Talk Like a Pirate Day today my excuse for not actually painting this week is

“I bin too busy shivering me timbers”

I would like to remind you all that I do have a big ship on a 2 foot pole in me army though.

Cory Burns is a scurvy dog. No reason he just is.

Next week my excuse is likely to involve Morris Dancing.

Cheers

Grey Knights
Grey Knights Justicar

Some of my Black Knights are now officially Grey. I have got one unit finished. I must admit I am pleased with the end result and have enjoyed painting these Marines. The combination of smooth surfaces and foundation paints have made it a lot easier to get a nice clean result. Something I find normally takes me a very long time.

I have now moved on to starting my Inquisitors retinues. Although I really like the character of the normal retinue models I wanted my army to retain a very military look.
To do this I have done some minor conversion work on Imperial Guard.
To represent the precognitive skills of Mystics I have modeled guardsmen with auspexes and binoculars. Makes sense to me!!!

For the sages I have given comms sets and radios so they can record and transmit the action for posterity. Obviously!!!

I also have 2 gun servitors with multi meltas which look cool (only because they are wearing shades). Originally they were going to be gun/feet (less cool) and I’m sure Burnsey will take great pleasure in ridiculing this first idea. I need these multi meltas as I am going to find it very hard to deal with enemy armour and with the sages reroll I should actually hit.

Anyway that is how and why I converted the models and I have started to paint them with a snow camouflaged pattern. Looking in the IG codex it looks exceptionally easy to do. I’m sure it is, but unfortunately I have over painted them so many times because I am not happy with the way they are turning out. Soon these guard will be the same size as The Hukish’s infamous Imperial Fists!!!

Hopefully by next week I will have finished them and the photographs will hide the fact that they look the same size as me when I dress up in camouflaged gear!!!

Starting Army

My painting is going very well, if I rename my Grey Knights to Black Knights. Somebody is trying to sabotage my chances of finishing.

Dave Noyle has started a Battlefleet Gothic campaign in the office so I have had to make and paint an Eldar fleet.

The UK sent me a sample of the new Baneblade, which is awesome, so I have spent the last couple of days putting this beast together.

I have however nearly finished putting together my display base for the army and I do have a BFG ship representing my Orbital strike. If I may say so myself it looks pretty cool on it’s 2 foot pole.

Hopefully this week I will actually do some painting unless I can persuade Cory to rename the competition “Build Diorama or Die”

Cheers
