Hi, I'm Ryan and I manage the GW Oshawa store and I firmly believe that you can never have enough Tyranids. I already have one of every model GW has made for Tyranids (even for Gothic etc.) I also have a Guard army, themed as a Genestealer cult that needs several Baneblades.
Well it looks like the O Noes have come to an end and I have shed my proverbial millstone, (or cookie monster costume) I would like to thank Mark Mckellar, Lionel Miranda, and Matt Staniscia, for sending me the flesh hook Genestealer heads, you guys are awesome and I hope you pass! I think Matt is actually an undercover agent named Stan, look at his last name: Stan-Is-C-I-A, but I've said too much.
Let's look at my Deadlines:
Oct 10 - new baby - pass
Oct 13 - owe Robert Slater, Travis Morton, and Damon Luk 3 baneblades each - pass
Dec 10 - Owe 79 other people a Baneblade - pass

Woot, I do have to thank two more people though My lovely Wife who was very understanding, and Bob Barker who would always cheer me on.

WEEK 5
Well I've almost finished my gaming table and... huh? oh my Tyranids right, well I've almost finished a gaming table... I'm starting to feel l like I have ADD (Army Dalliance Disorder) I keep playing with my parts of Chaos guys (I mean that literally too: I make little noises and pretend they're bashing each other) I just received the parts for my Stone Crusher Carnifexes. I'll have those assemble right away! My math skills are severely lacking too. Apparently week 3 means week 1 and 54 models actually means 63, I'm sure I can be excused for that as those numbers are RIGHT NEXT to each other on the key board. I'm sooo happy with my Chaos Lord, I did this really cool flame-motif on his shoulder pads, and I feel really good about the way the cape looks... y'know I'm starting to feel like the grass hopper in that old fable about the Grasshopper and the Octopus, the Grasshopper wasted his summer collecting nuts for the winter and the Octopus just mooched off his girlfriend, I thinks that's how it goes. I like stories.
I'd like to congratulate Mike Stroyan for finishing 100 guardsmen models! and I'd like to let you guys know that Chris Parson is making progress too, I'm rooting for you Chris!
WEEK 4
I'm Finished... my army of the dead, and a LOTR Dragon, gotta paint gaunts. I must say that the GW staff is spectacular for helping each other out, I needed four heads of Genestealers with flesh hooks and I recieved 16! from all over the place. Some kind soul also sent me the cute little spinefist rippers (appearently someone in GW is a flithy psyker and can read minds). I was thinking of painting up some additional Genestealers with the extra heads to say a sort of thank you to the people who sent them. I'll do them, IF (read; when) I finish early. Now back to assembling ogres... Oh Noez there I goes again.
WEEK 2
Yarb?! appearently last week I was possesed by Nick Pruiksma, that man's hatred of Lionel must be really strong to affect other shops. maybe it's like a province-wide warp scream. The REAL reason my picture's a little off is; I have been working on my Chaos army. I know, I know I should really get down to working on my tyranids, but I got the new army deal and it's soooooo nice! so how would that make me look angry in a picture? it doesn't, I was hypnotised.
I should also mention; Oh Noez! I forgot my PoD stuff at home today and it's PoD monday in Oshawa! Am I going to let that deter me? Narb! I can paint the shiny new Chaos Lord, is that what I really want?...Yarb.
WEEK 1
I don't have nearly enough Forge World Tyranids (yet), so I'll get two Battle forces and when I finish painting them I'll reward myself with some stone crusher Carnifex bits. The other stuff I wanted to include is stuff I have to paint like the a Malanthrope! I really need to paint the new Biovores too, argh!
My army list is a sad little 54 models but I can paint Tyrant guard (want) without including a Hive Tyrant (need), the good news is my army has 114 wounds worth of models (16 of which show up again and again yeah!). So I just have to use terrain to my advantage when I play. At this point I've played so many games with my other Tyranids that I want to mess around and make all sorts of wacky and cool models, so that I have an enormous Apocalypse!
Oh NOEZ! curses! foiled by mismolds. I have evrything in my army assembled, and primed except for 4 genestealers with mismolded flesh hooks, and 1 biovore missing a base and rear legs! Thank the powers that be that this is a Games Workshop painting bet and I can get the mismolded parts replaced as soon as the next shipment comes in. It would be a nightmare if I had to wait 4 - 6 weeks to recieve things through mail or anything. Especially since the oshawa staff have a side bet of an October 13 deadline.
The oshawa deadline is earlier because it's kind of like the thunderstorm before the hurricaine. We each have to buy each other 3 Baneblades instead of just one and in our shop the guy that finishes first gets a free gamer's edition courtesy of the rest of the store staff.
So you think 2 deadlines and $9540 worth of Baneblades is motivation enough? Wait let's turn up the pressure some more: My wife and I have a 15 month old son already, but you know gamers and miniatures you can't just stop at one, in october (expecting the 10th) we'll have our second baby. I am going to have a whole lot less time to paint (less than now even!) So wish me luck!

Ahh.... week 3 and I've almost done my ‘Army of the Dead’ for Lord of the Rings. It feels good to.... what? 40K paint bet? I should be working on Tyranids right now? O NOEZ!
I guess I can throw away my chances at that ‘Gamer’s Addition’ prize for first completed that the Oshawa store is running. That makes me sad. I 'm finding it really hard to resist the pull of the new Gondor in Flames and Return of the King journey book, maybe I'll just paint a little bit of.... No gotta focus.
For anyone that's interested; Mondays are Hobby focus days at the Oshawa store that means that we're gearing up for 40K Apocalypse! Until the release I'll be hanging out after my shifts trying to finish my PoD army and we'll being doing lots of in-store events like the Chaos Codex Launch tournament, Rise to Daemon hood, and Renegade Rampage, oh man! Why didn't I pick chaos?
