BEYOND RETAIL
As a Games Workshop Independent Retailer, you will have access to many resources
to help you grow the hobby in your respective establishment or community.
This creates a better market for your Games Workshop retail business.
This is mainly done by tapping into Games Day, our Hall of Heroes Tournament
League, and Warpstone Painting Award Network. Don’t have the time or
experience to run Games Workshop events or tournaments in your store?
Why not get a Grey Knight to do it for you?
Why run an event or tournament?
- Events and tournaments help to grow and reinforce the Games Workshop hobby
in your store and community.
- They help to generate sales outside of the actual event by creating an
environment for hobbyists to constantly expand their collections and buy
new Games Workshop product.
- By participating in events like Games Day you help to establish your
store’ presence within the Games Workshop hobby community.
- We fully support the events run in your store, some of which fall under
the Hall Of Heroes Tournament and Warpstone Painting Leagues. With both
of these events you are offered free advertisement in White Dwarf Magazine
and on the Games Workshop Canada Website.
- As well as advertisements you will receive everything
you need to run these events in one handy pack with trophies, posters and
even a step by step guide to running these events.
Games Day [back to top]
Games Day is our annual exhibition devoted to everything Games Workshop.
Games Day attracts 2,000 hobbyists to play games and paint models. Games
Day is host to the biggest painting competition in Canada, Golden Demon.
Additionally 100’s of gaming tables, artwork and sneak peeks of future
models can be found at the event. We even fly in special guests to give
seminars and presentations.
The benefits:
- Independent Retailers are encouraged to come to the event, free of charge.
- Set up a table and promote their store through posters, flyers and word of mouth advertising.
- Games Day is a huge explosion in the hobby community and it’s benefits are felt in retailers before the event as players strive to finish their armies and Golden Demon entries.
- The benefits even carry through after the event, as the customer will head to local stores to fill their hobby needs after the event.
Hall of Heroes league [back to top]
Games Workshop runs a nationwide league, Hall of Heroes, where players compete
in tournaments all over the country. At Games Workshop Hobby Centres and Independent
Stores like yours, players gain points to qualify for the ultimate showdown
at the Grand Tournament. They also compete for prizes and fame along the way.
The Benefits:
- We support all of these events through free advertisement in our monthly
magazine, White Dwarf and the Games Workshop Canada Website.
- These events are easy to run. Everything you need for the event,
is in one box. Each pack contains trophies, posters, sign up sheets
and a step-by-step guide to running the event.
- The Hall of Heroes league has over 2,000 active members. Running a tournament
is an easy way to get your store noticed and to
get the local community to start frequenting your location.
Warpstone Painting League [back to top]
Fresh off the success of our tournament league we have started up a nationwide
painting competition in the form of the Warpstone Painting League. In a similar
format to the Hall of Heroes, players will be competing for points and recognition
by entering contests in Hobby Centres and Independent Retailers across the
country.
The Benefits:
- Independent stores will have access to the Warpstone pack, which is the complete competition in a box (its contents include trophies, flyers, posters and a complete guide to running your own painting competition).
- Your competition will be advertised in our monthly magazine, The White Dwarf and on the Games Workshop Canada Website.
- Every Warpstone pack also includes free models you can give to interested patrons who wish to try and paint a model to enter it in the competition.
Grey Knight Volunteers [back to top]
Games Workshop has a group of elite volunteers who are part of what we refer to as the “Grey Knight” program. Each of these volunteers is an individual who has successfully completed a rather tough recruiting process and is a veteran of the hobby. A Grey Knight’s primary purpose is to run activities within Independent stores.
The Benefits:
- Introductory games (Mines of Moria, Battle for Macragge and
Warhammer Fantasy Battle).
- Terrain building classes.
- Painting classes.
- Mega-battles (Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Fantasy Battle and
The Lord of the Rings).
- ‘Hall of Heroes’ and Warpstone tournaments.
