I
have always been a fan of the imperial guard even though
a guardsman by himself is as useful as a flashlight
on a stick, but throw in the newly available air support
(Valkyries/Vultures) and the Doctrines from the upcoming
Codex and you can have a potentially deadly force.
When I went to design this list I wanted to make
an army
that mirrored the air cavalry of the United States in
Vietnam. I love the scene from the film Apocalypse Now
where troops descend from their helicopters into battle
while playing “the ride of the valkeryies” over
loudspeakers. I wanted to have my Guard to do the same.
Not only did I want massive air support but also wanted
my troops to hold their own once they touched down, so
keeping these factors in mind I went to work.
